Our Community
"A Childs life is like a piece of paper on which every person leaves a mark."
Robert Heinlein
At Southern Highlands Early Childhood Centre we strive to provide a variety of learning experiences and activities for our children to assist in providing a fun and diverse environment to learn and grow in.
We have several community based extra curricular activities that attend SHECC who provide fun and knowledgeable experiences for our children. One of the amazing benefits of these experiences is that they extend on each child's interests and enhance their learning environment.
Southern Highlands Early Childhood Centre is proudly partnered with:
Bush Tucker Greg - Greg attends the centre once a month and provides the children with experiences and knowledge related to all aspects of Aboriginal Culture.
Little Kickers - Little Kickers attend the centre seasonally and provide an hour of soccer related skill sets for children aged 2-5 years.
Emily from Empire Dance - Miss Emily is a crowd favourite at SHECC and does dance with our toddler and preschool rooms once a week.
Bunnings & Mitre 10 - Bunnings are fantastic partners of SHECC and visit the centre regularly to provide outdoor learning experiences. Bunnings also donate fantastic outdoor resources which are used in all aspects of our outdoor learning environment.
Brave Hearts - Brave Hearts are an essential program we utilise for our 3-5 year olds to learn more about confidence and safety when it comes to their own wellbeing. Brave Hearts provide a show "Ditto's Keep Safe Adventure Show" which teaches young children essential personal safety skills, using age-appropriate language, songs and dance.
Our local Men's Shed - The Men's Shed provide us with timber resources to enhance the learning environments both indoors and outdoors.
Moss Vale Country Women's Associtation - Moss Vale CWA have partnered with us for several Winter's now providing our outdoor environment with awesome Tree Scarves and knitted ornaments which add wonderful Winter aesthetics to our yard.
Wingecarribee Shire Council - We partner with the our local council to provide learning experiences and resources that promote sustainability within our service.
Along with regular visits from many of these community activities, SHECC also incorporates many different types of incursions into our learning program for all ages. Some of our incursions include but are not limited to African Drummers, Bee Keeping, Hatching Chickens, Moss Vale Fire Brigade and Moss Vale Police, Reptile Shows and Living Safely with Dogs.
