SHECC values cultural diversity and acknowledges, values and respects our custodians of the Gundungurra land upon which we play, learn and grow.
At Southern Highlands Early Childhood Centre we value the importance of play because it is through play that children have fun, enjoy themsleves and are able to express and let their creative side out. Play is important as it allows children to make decisions in a world dominated by adults which results in a happy and confident child that has a positive self worth.
SHECC is fully committed to the participation of children with additional needs. Positive interactions are important to ensure the child feels a sense of belonging and the curriculum and flexible routine offer opportunities for 1:1 learning as well as small group experiences.
Educators at SHECC encourage respect for the natural environment and the interdependence between people, plants, animals and the land. The centre also has spaces that encourage development of life skills such as our planting boxes, worm farm, waste reduction and recycling. The service is committed to providing quality experiences in both our indoor and outdoor learning environments.
Our team of experienced and qualified Educators are passionate about helping your child develop, learn and grow. We have a diverse group of educators who are committed to providing your child with the best possible care. We deliver the best staffing arrangements possible by ensuring continuity for all children within the centre and meet staffing ratios at all times. We offer traineeships to provide on the job experience from Certificate III and Dipolma of Children Services right through to a qualified Early Childhood Teacher.
At SHECC we respect everyone’s values and beliefs and ensure that everyone from within our community feels welcome. We pride ourselves on our open-door policy and promoting a sense of belonging to everyone within our SHECC community.
